List your devices

If you're using Playback with other UPnP devices, this is the place for you.

List your devices

Postby Johnny » Mon Oct 05, 2009 12:18 am

If you're using Playback with UPnP devices other than a PS3 and XBox and are running into issues, create an entry listing the following info:

• Name of the UPnP device you're using.
• Your router model.
• A description of your network setup.

We are working to making Playback with as many UPnP devices as possible.

If you'd like to take part in beta testing, send me an email to info at yazsoft dot com.

If your device is already listed, do not create a new entry for it.

Thank you for your cooperation.

I have just downloaded Playback. I have not purchased yet as I am trying it out.

I have a blu-ray player LG model BD390, it is direct connected to my Apple Airport Extreme router. It show up on Playback as Linux.
My media is on my Apple Macbook Pro with Snow Leopard. My Macbook is wireless to the router.
Everything works fine except for the following.

When a movie is stopped, the LG drops out to the server menu. I can get back in right away though.
Music works good and stops to the folder view like it should. In music, it will only play mp3 files and not AAC. The AAC files show up on the LG, but it will skip over them.

I hope this is enough info,
John

Philips LCD 42PFL8404H

I can see all categories that Playback serves, like Music, Videos etc but I cannot play any files. My TV always says that files cannot be played (the same files play ok off USB drive connected to the same TV set).

The same files served by TwonkyMedia (from the same Mac to the same TV over the same network of course) play perfectly.

My TV is connected to Linksys WRT54GL router (Tomato firmware, uPnP compatible). The router is connected to Time Capsule (by cable) that is bridged to Linksys (so the Linksys is the main router and DHCP server). My iMac is connected to the Time Capsule by cable.

As said, TownkyMedia and my TV work ok together in this configuration. Playback 1.5.1 and Windows 7 PC also work ok over the same network. So there is something very specific about Playback and Philips DLNA TVs. By the way 8404 is only DLNA 1.0 certified if it makes any difference.

My mail: "s_marek (at) poczta.onet dot pl" if you want to send me a debug key.

Thanks,
Gitarzysta

Name of the UPnP device you're using: Oppo BDP-93 connected using its provided wireless dongle to the WRT54G
Your router model: LinkSys WRT54G firmware version 1.02.7
A description of your network setup: Below-

Playback version 1.7.1
i7-based iMac with 8GB RAM, OS X 10.6.5 connected via ethernet to LinkSys, static IP address in same subnet as WRT54G and other local devices
Oppo BDP-93 has static IP in same subnet as other local devices
WRT54G has UPnP enabled, WAN interface connected to cable modem (to Internet).
OS X firewall enabled, both Playback Server and nginx_playback are set to allow incoming connections, stealth mode off
Little Snitch active:
• allows UDP 1900 on local network, TCP 5000 and 8888 on local network for all applications
• Playback, Playback Server and nginx_playback allow all connections at the moment.

I can run WireShark on the Mac.

Even with all firewall off, not able to get Oppo and Playback to talk well. The Oppo sees the server and the three folders Music, Photos, Movies. The content for Movies is displayed quickly, but for the Music and Photos the Oppo hangs. WIreShark show lots of chatting between the iMac and Oppo on port 8888 for quite a while, but never does display any contents.

I see the -93 connecting to my iMac, and Playback shows the -93 in its access list (device unknown like EyeConnect, but still seen). BTW, the -83 supposedly works with YazSoft's Playback (as listed on your page for compatibility). I've successfully gotten the PS3 Media Server running with the Oppo with the firewall in place as described (but it has its own stability issues and is a huge resource hog).

I have been using AirPlayer on an iPad and an iPhone4. Playback 1.74 isn't recognized at all. Other DLNA servers are. I am running Playback on a Mac Mini (mid 2010). AirSoft works fine with Twonky, PS3Media server, etc ...

Thanks...Philip

Streaming from my iMac to my XBOX 360 works beautifully. Looking to get a Roku XDS to work with Playback as well. It seems that this can be done with the Plex app on the Roku, is this correct?

• Roku XDS
• Apple Time Capsule using Wifi n
• Mostly a wireless set up

iMac wireless to to Time Capsule streams Playback. XBOX 360 hardwired to Time Capsule picks up Playback just fine. Roku XDS wireless to Time Capsule sees network and all channels just fine. Just looking for a way to have the Roku see the Playback server on the iMac.
