SDCLI

SDCLI is a very simple shell script that allows you to control Speed Download from the command line (Terminal). It in fact, uses the osascript command to run Applescripts that control Speed Download.

Why would you want to use the SDCLI ?

Obviously if you are sitting in front of the computer and have SD’s graphical interface within reach, there is little advantage in using the SDCLI. But, if you are stuck away from your computer, you can use this to remote control Speed Download.

Enable remote login on your computer and ssh to your computer from anywhere in the world. If you have the SDCLI ready to go, you can have SD perform most tasks you would normally do with SD for you, even though you aren’t there.

For example, if you see something interesting at work, you could ssh into your machine at home (providing it’s on of course!), and use the SDCLI to start your download. This way, when you come home, your download will be done waiting for you ! This is especially useful if you have a very fast Internet connection elsewhere than where you are currently located.
